The American Visionary Art Museum or AVAM for short is a unique entity in Baltimore, a museum for self taught artists. If you’ve never been you don’t know what you’re missing. Words can’t begin to describe some of the fantastic, as well as some of the strange artwork that is on display. The one thing that it was missing was a solid website which was rectified in 2010.
The previous AVAM website was dated by today’s standards, optimized for screen resolution of 640 x 480 for starters. The thing is the website itself was cutting edge when it was made probably 10 years ago. When I was in school learning the trade I was blow away the first time I saw it; JavaScript animations & the like. I had even met one the guys that had worked on it at a party and wished that I could work on a site so cool. I was very excited when I found out I would be on the team that worked on the redesign.
