It’s Official, I have a new job
Yes, it is official; I have a new job. I am very pleased to announce that The Berndt Group has told me that my probationary period is now over.
Today I received an email from the vice president telling me that The Berndt Group was happy with my performance as a Front End Web Developer and that they would like me to continue with employment there. I was very happy to receive this email but not very surprised.
Sometimes I feel very egotistical when I say things like, "I'm very good at my job" or "I am great at what I do". It is true, I'm great at what I do. Why am I great at what I do? Frankly it is because I love what I do. I enjoy going to work, I enjoy learning new skills. I love reading new articles or trying the new techniques. It all boils down to the fact that I am passionate.
The thing is as good as I know I am, I don't feel special. There are so many people that are as good as I am if not better that I am always striving to learn more. I know that I can easily be replaced if needed. The field that I am in is full of talent and I am glad to be a part of it.
At the end of the day I won't be apologetic for thinking I'm great at what I do. There is nothing wrong with a little cockiness or bravado. As long as you know there is always someone out there that is better than you. As long as you know that as good as you are; you ARE replaceable. As long as you care about what you do, hold your head high.
Great! You can buy the first round this weekend.
